About the Department

The program mission is to prepare the oral and maxillofacial specialist and students for a career in academic or private radiology practice. Specialists trained in the program will acquire the following skil

Prescribe, make or supervise the use of conventional and advanced imaging modalities in the oral and maxillofacial region.

Be able to determine appropriate imaging techniques based on clinical exam and medical/dental histories.

Conduct research related to oral and maxillofacial radiology. Advise OMFR researchers on modern imaging techniques and provide imaging facilities for related dental research.

Interpret radiographs and other diagnostic images. Serve as a consultant on oral and maxillofacial imaging problems in both medicine and dentistry.

Teach modern and traditional diagnostic imaging techniques.

Advise clinicians and researchers on radiation safety and protection.
